The local area…

Fishguard is split into two distinctive sections. The town comprises the old harbour of Lower Town and the main town of Fishguard on the cliff top. Situated in the heart of North Pembrokeshire, the area is renowned for its natural beauty, cafes and pubs and is the perfect place to take in the coastal path.

Within easy walking distance you will find all this quaint fishing town has to offer; independent coffee shops and cafes galore, bespoke shops, art galleries and several pubs.  Hooked @ 31 is one of the top ten fish and chip takeaway spots for 2020; pop in for top quality food, fresh fish and homemade ice cream, which should be eaten whilst sitting on the beach watching the sunset.

Mannings is fabulous for breakfast, lunch or dinner and you can enjoy homemade meals created using local produce. There's seating both inside and outdoors in the garden area and vegetarians and vegan choices are available.  During the summer months the wood-fired pizza nights are not to be missed!

Fishguard is famous as the site where the last invasion of Britain by a foreign force (French) took place in 1797.  A historical fort that played a role in the 1797 invasion is easily reachable. The Last Invasion Tapestry, a 10 metre masterpiece that captures the dramatic events of the 1797 invasion is on permanent display in the gallery attached to the library in Fishguard Town Hall.

Newport is a short drive away, nestling at the foot of Carn Ingli, with an array of eateries and independent shops.

For those who enjoy walking, the property is just two minutes from the iconic Pembrokeshire Coast Path and only five minutes' walk to the nearest beach (Goodwick). Nearby, are Abermawr and Aberbach and the many glorious beaches found along the rugged coastline of north Pembrokeshire. Also within easy driving distance are the magnificent St David’s Cathedral and spectacular beaches of the St David's peninsula.

For surfers it's a must to ride the waves at Whitesands and Newgale, or you may like to try coasteering at Abereiddy (The Blue Lagoon). The Sloop or The Shed at Porthgain offer great fish and chips.

Aberjazz Jazz and Blues Festival takes place every August Bank Holiday weekend (Thursday-Monday).  The wonderful Aberjazz Festival celebrates the best of Jazz and Blues and is held in various venues around Fishguard and the surrounding area.  (Some events ticketed.) Expect a party atmosphere as the town comes to life with live music in the pubs and busking in the streets.
Throughout the town the Aberjazz Fringe brings music to the pubs, cafes and restaurants.
